The Pre-College Initiative (PCI) Program is a key focus of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). Its primary goal is to encourage students in grades K–12 to develop an interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Through consistent early exposure to technical competitions, academic development, and leadership training, the PCI Program aims to inspire these students to pursue careers in STEM fields12. NSBE Jr., the membership category for pre-college students and institutions officially chartered with NSBE, plays a vital role in the PCI Program. NSBE Jr. focuses on enhancing the education received by African-American and other underrepresented pre-college students in STEM to influence them to become tomorrow’s corporate executives, entrepreneurs, and leaders.
